Who is Silimaibau

WE met Rupeni Silimaibau on April 25, 2008 and discussed our views and he explained his reason for sitting on the NCBBF.

We have asked him through the media, through correspondence and in person to step down and get the permission from the provincial councils on whether they want to continue with the NCBBF.

The YPCN has asked for a time in which we can sit with the larger provincial youth council alumni and talk about capacity and national representation.

As a youth advocacy group, we believe that it is in our interest that we are part of this exercise.

We have received countless emails from youths throughout Fiji, who are at odds with Mr Silimaibau.

This correspondence has been forwarded to him.

We know that youths throughout Fiji are standing together against his comments and his position on the NCBBF.

At the meeting on Friday, I told Mr Silimaibau of the four provinces that I had spoken to. To date Rewa, Naitasiri and Namosi have publicly refused the People's Charter.

This decision also involves the presidents of the youth councils. So Mr Silimaibau should do the maths. The provincial youths are speaking.
