A network that inspires
FIJI TIMES : Saturday, May 16, 2009
The Young Peoples Concerned Network is a group that deserves a salute for the bravery and inspirational work it has been doing.
It is a youth network made up of youth activists from around Fiji who focus on providing space for the members and for youth issues to be addressed at national level.
The activists work in human rights, gender rights, children rights, youth policy, mental health, AIDS and reproductive health, civic duties, indigenous affairs, regionalism, education, and peace building.
The members work on different programs at community and national level that deal with youths directly.
The group was formed in 2005 to unite youth advocates, because it felt it was hard for youth activists to address their issues at national level and that there was less attention paid to youth development and life skills training. Since than it has grown, with links to regional and world youth groups.
YPCN envisions a future where young people can access information, education, health care, work, basic needs and a future free from poverty, stigma, strife and uncertainty.
