THE Spinal Injury Association's dwindling finances have forced it to raise funds. Fiji Disabled People's Association (FDPA) president Akuila Rewatabua said the association has close to 4000 members. He said the association did not just cater for people with spinal injuries but all who were confined to wheelchairs. He said these included people who had suffered from stroke.
He said the association supplied members with medication as well as urinary bags, special cushions and mattresses.
"Those confined to wheelchairs suffer from pressure sores that's why they need special cushions and mattresses," he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Rewatabua said the FDPA tried to help its affiliates as best as it could.
Mr Rewatabua added that the association had a little over $2000 in its budget and if money from the Government doesn't come soon, they would have to close office because they won't have money.
