Press Release- Young Peoples Concerned Network ‘I CARE’ Drive

In commemoration of National Youth Week, The Young People’s Concerned Network is spearheading a campaign called ‘ I Care‘,  collecting clothes, stationery and dry food. This Campaign will run from 22nd – 27th of March with various collection bins that will be placed around Suva and also door to door collections by Youth.

This is in response  to the devastation caused by  hurricane  Tomas that wreaked havoc in the Eastern and Northern Division especially. This is a special call to the young people in the Central Eastern Division to come forward and give.

We are asking young people to come to come forward with t-shirts, shorts, shoes, sulus, batteries, and non perishable food. This call also goes out to primary, secondary and tertiary students to come forward with spare exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers and text books. The Young People’s Concerned Network is partnering with other youth groups and networks through out the Central Division and is confident of a good response.

Young People in Fiji can celebrate National Youth Week (22nd – 27th March)  by participating in this drive. This is a time for young people to stand in support of their peers affected by the devastating Hurricane Tomas.

Additionally, given the United Nations declared August 2010-August  2011  The International Year of the Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding, this would be a great opportunity to show the strength and sensitivity of young people to the needs of their communities and nation.

We are aware of how so many young people are using social e-networks to disseminate information and fundraise on behalf of the victims; young people are also in the front line of  the disaster affected areas and are supporting
